Late to Grid - Grassroots Racing
We share the stories and inspiration that will help get more people behind the wheel and on the track. Track days, HPDE, SCCA, NASA, ChampCar, LeMons, and autocrossing - we interview drivers and industry insiders that will help drivers along their motorsports journey.
The name, Late To Grid? In the past the host, Bill Snow, was always late to the track, late to get the car ready, and hence - Late To Grid. His goal with the podcast is to grow the sport and highlight the tools and resources that will help you get to the track and faster behind the wheel.

Late To Grid: E7 - Jay Andrew & Marlon Sumlin - NASA Great Lakes
What an episode!
Honestly, we could have talked for hours with these gentlemen. Tons of great information about their passion for helping get folks on track and truly helping others. Not everything we talked about is in this episode - which means that we'll come out with a bonusode (is that even a word?) to share the rest of what we talked about.
Some interesting highlights:
- Marlon had a Mazda Speed Protege named Spicy and there were roughly 600 made in that color and Jay Leno owns one.
- Jay was the first American Iron Winner
- Hyperdrive is a great way to get on track to explore if you want to get into HPDE events
- NASA has a structured HPDE program to help drivers grow
- Marlon works hard to raise awareness of hereditary cancer through Force Racing

What the guys are up to:
Bill shares an updated plan for being on track. The RX-7s might take a back seat to the Miata. Wait, neither of those have a back seat. Weird.
John asks about the E46 wagon that Bill's working on at the shop and John is still updating the kitchen.
