This month, Bill encourages listeners to take a hard look at their "room" - their circle of influence, the people who shape their lives and their motorsports journey. Are those around you pushing you toward your goals or holding you back? Bill shares insightful advice on the importance of surrounding yourself with positive, supportive individuals.

Key Takeaways:

- The power of influence: Who we surround ourselves with shapes our goals and actions.

- Choosing the right circle: Seek out those who support your growth and aspirations.

- Building a winning team: Surround yourself with people who want to help you succeed.

Welcome to another edition of the Late to Grid podcast. This is Bill Snow, and I'm back in the Atomic Autosports studio to talk to you about the August challenge. Now, this one's coming out a little bit later than the first of the month, but I still think it's super important. And it's something that I know that if you focus on will help you not only on track, but in life as well. So here's the concept. Ask yourself who's in your room? Another way that this has been talked about is who's at your table or who's in your circle. And the concept is this who are you surrounding yourself with? Who you confiding in? Who are you seeking advice from? Who are you trying to emulate? If you had a really important life decision or business decision and you called together people to help you with that, who would be in that room with you? That's the idea. Now, from time to time, I get asked to give talks to business groups and students, and I always try to implement and include this concept because it's super important if we're not surrounding ourselves with the right people. The wrong people can have the wrong influences on us. Here's a great example. If you're hanging out with people that want to go out and you know, hey, let's go to the bar again tonight, let's not work on the race car. Let's just, you know, let's go play some poker. And you're doing that over and over again. Those people are pulling you away from your goal to be on track. However, if you surround yourself with people that say, hey, how can I help you get that car done? Or what do you need to get a little bit faster and take those 2/10 off that lap time? Those are the people you want to surround yourself. I want to give you a great example. If you go back to my episode where I talk about my motorsports journey, I talk a little bit about how Raider Racing started. And Matt, who is an employee of not only Raider Complete Car Care and Wickliffe, he's also our lead mechanic in Atomic Autosports, and he's our lead mechanic on the Raider Racing team. When he first got involved, he was really the first team member for the Raider Racing. He asked me, I think we could use some help from some of my friends. Should I invite them to come work on the car? Absolutely. As we all know, more hands are helpful. As I got to see the kind of people that Matt surrounded himself with. That's a great group of guys. And if you've been at the track or you've heard people talk about our team, you know that it's a great group of people. Those are the types of people you want to be surrounding yourself with and working with. So here's the challenge for August. Think about it. Who's in your room? Who's at your table? Who's in your circle? Who are you surrounding yourself with? Are they going to help you get to the next level in life, the next level in your motorsports journey? Are they the right people to support you or are they keeping you from achieving your goals? Think about it and I hope that helps you make some tough decisions and some important decisions that help you grow. I look forward to hearing your feedback and your results, and I wish you all the best, not only on track, but in life. And remember, don't be late to grid.
